The Malaysian Association of Energy Service Companies (MAESCO) conducted a PowerTalk Industry session in conjunction with ENGINEER & MARVEX 2026 on 24 September 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

The session, titled “NETR ESCO Platform: Accelerating Energy Efficiency Retrofits in Government Buildings – Overcoming Challenges and Charting the Way Forward” brought together policymakers, regulators, implementing agencies, financial institutions and industry stakeholders for an open and constructive dialogue on accelerating energy efficiency retrofits in Government buildings.

MAESCO was represented by Ar. Zulkifli Zahari and Ir. Ong Ching Loon, who moderated the session. The discussion featured representatives from the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), Energy Commission (ST), Public Works Department (JKR), Malaysian Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Association (MACRA), Malaysia International Commission on Illumination (MyCIE), and financial institutions.

A key focus of the discussion was the progress of the NETR ESCO Platform and efforts towards achieving the target of RM2 billion worth of Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) projects by 2030. The session explored key implementation challenges, the respective roles of Government agencies and industry players, financing considerations, and practical solutions to accelerate the implementation and progress of the ESCO Platform.

The PowerTalk provided an important platform for stakeholders to exchange perspectives and identify opportunities for stronger coordination between the public and private sectors in advancing energy efficiency projects.

Through continuous engagement and industry collaboration, MAESCO remains committed to strengthening Malaysia’s ESCO ecosystem, building stakeholder confidence, and supporting the effective implementation of energy efficiency initiatives under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

MAESCO extends its appreciation to all speakers, panellists, stakeholders and participants who contributed to the meaningful and constructive discussion.
