* Participants interested in registration must meet the following minimum qualifications:
1. An engineering or architectural degree, or a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.), or Registered Architect (R.A.) with at least 3 years' verifiable experience in energy auditing, facility management, or experience related to energy management.
OR
2. A non-engineering degree with at least 4 years' verifiable experience in energy auditing, facility management, or experience related to energy management.
OR
3. A diploma holder in any technical field, with at least 6 years' verifiable experience in energy auditing, facility management or energy management.
** It is possible for a person with the correct academic qualification but not having the relevant energy related experience, to undertake the course and the examination. On passing the exam they will be awarded the “Energy Auditor in Training” status. They may apply for full certification within 3 years without having to retake the examination. Their competencies will be assessed against the published requirements to ensure that they have the relevant experience to become certified. However during the in training status, they are not allowed to be a lead auditor for any energy audit team.
