Certified Measurement & Verification Specialist (CMVS)
Energy Efficiency industry in Malaysia is steadily growing in the last 15 years and it becomes one of the key instruments for achieving Malaysia’s international commitments towards reducing GHG production.
Measuring energy savings as a part of Energy Performance Contracts (EPC) and other Energy Efficiency projects is a very challenging task. In general, measuring energy consumptions of a project before and after implementing Energy Efficiency measures is a simple task. However, due to the dynamic nature of energy consumptions, comparing apple with apple for energy consumptions of pre- and post-Energy Efficiency project implementation is not always a simple matter. The reason for that is the high number of independent variables, such as weather, time, changes in end-uses and others that affect the total energy consumption of pre- and post-Energy Efficiency project implementation.
Accordingly, developing an accurate, dependable and reliable measurement procedures for evaluating energy savings is an important task for the promotion of ESCO business and unlocking the enormous potential for energy efficiency field. Good measurement practices and verifiability are some of the important elements in providing the confidence needed to secure funding of Energy Efficiency projects.
Securing financing requires confidence that Energy Efficiency investments will result in a savings stream sufficient to make debt payments.
Measurement and verification practices allow Energy Efficiency project performance risks to be understood and managed.
Although there are several recognised Measurement and Verification protocols used worldwide, International performance measurement and verification protocol (IPMVP) is the most comprehensive and commonly used protocol for evaluating energy and water savings.
Training Objectives :
The main objectives of Certified Measurement and Verification training program are :
i. Raising the technical understanding of Measurement and Verification (M&V) fundamentals by professionals involved in energy measurements and verifications;
ii. Maintaining existing certifications of already Certified Measurement and Verification Specialist (CMVS);
iii. Familiarising with the status of International Measurement and Verification Protocols widely used globally;
iv. Learning how to develop and implement an effective M&V plan;
v. Learning on how to decide on the acceptable level of metering accuracy to be used for measurement and verification;
vi. Learning how to deal with metering errors, missing or corrupted metering data;
vii. Learning how to model energy monitoring data using regression analysis and understanding statistical uncertainty and level of confidence and precision levels in estimating energy savings as per adopted M&V plan; and
viii. Learning how to issue effective reporting on estimated savings within the agreed precision range.
